Klara McDonnellKlara McDonnell started acting in theatre at 16, when she got involved with Tallaght Youth Theatre. She later trained as a drama facilitator and worked with several youth theatres. As an actor, she has taken classes with Graham Cantwell (Film Venture), David Scott, Hope Brown (Agni Acting Studio) and Mary Murray. Her first television appearance was on “Echo Island” on R.T.E when she was 16. She was interviewed about her first trip to Hollywood, where she attended the MTV VMA’s and was shown busking on Grafton Street alongside a presenter on the show.

As an actress has worked on feature film productions (Portrait of a Zombie, Vaudevillains, Trailers), short films (Tin Man – TG4), an online soap (The Covies), TV series (Fair City – RTE) and on stage (Love Songs for Losers, Absolut Fringe 2011).

Klara presented on an online traditional Irish music show LiveIreland for 7 years and presented on online channels such as Kildare TV, Busker TV, The Sound Feed and Dubz TV. As a voice over artist, Klara has worked on online commercials and read poetry in an RTE documentary, ” A Rebel Act”.

Klara has worked as a life drawing model on and off for many years. In October 2014, an RTE 2 documentary (Full Frontal) featured footage from behind the scenes on her photo shoot for Stellar magazine and an interview with Klara about her views on having a positive body image.

Klara is also a singer/songwriter and also performs at an occasional cabaret gig ( where she can combine her love of vintage fashion, music and acting) She graduated from the Rock School in BCFE in 2003. After graduating, she moved to Germany for two years and busked on the streets of Karlsruhe and Heidelberg  (playing her own music and Irish folk).  On returning to Ireland, she joined Hidden Faces, an Irish pop rock band. They released one single, “Believe” and did a mini UK tour. For five years, she co – wrote songs with Sean Cray, a guitarist/singer from Liverpool. They formed the alternative rock band, Hypno Puppet. The band played in many venues and festivals in Ireland (Whelans, The Grand Social, Cyprus Avenue, Knockanstockan). Their debut E.P. was released in April 2015, produced by Ruarc Stokes. 

In February 2017, Klara appeared on Coach Trip Road Marbs on E4 in the UK & Ireland with her actress friend, Dani Masterson. Klara is currently playing the singer/songwriter circuit in Ireland and released her debut solo E.P., “Trapped Within” in November 2017.
